The2019 Celebrating Greyhounds Wall Calendar Greyhound Project creates the beautiful, high quality Celebrating Greyhounds weekly desk diary and monthly wall calendar for adoption groups to resell as a fundraiser. We sell them to adoption organizations at our cost. About 100 groups purchase them in bulk each year to resell at their events.

We sell them directly to the public late in the year, but we always recommend you check with your group first. That's why we create them!

Photos are submitted by adopters, and each photo identifies the dog(s), the owner(s), and the adoption organization.

Photo submission guidelines (now accepting photos for 2022)

Now accepting electronic submissions!

2019 Celebrating Greyhounds Desk CalendarIn fact, we now prefer electronic submissions!  And, as always, if one of your photos is used, we’ll send you a complimentary calendar.  The 2021 deadline was April 30, 2020, so we're now accepting photos for 2022.

We receive hundreds of photos, so please limit submissions to your very best shots.  We request you submit a maximum of five photos per dog, and please limit submissions to greyhounds, large sighthounds, and sighthound mixes.  No humans, please.

Electronic submissions (preferred)

  • Please do not edit your photos; we’ll take care of that at our end. If you can’t resist, please send the original AND the edited versions.
  • If you’re using a digital camera, set it to the largest format it will take.
  • Nearly all phones take great high-resolution photos now.
  • Note that Facebook and other social media platforms, as well as many email applications, will automatically reduce the size of your images. Please submit the original, full size image. Most high-resolution images are 1 MB or more. If your photo is less than 100 KB, it’s definitely too small.
  • Please name your photos “LastName_DogName.jpg.” For example, “Norton_Bravo.jpg” or “Norton_BravoRunning.jpg.”
  • We accept photos in JPG/JPEG, TIFF, PNG, or BMP formats.
  • If photos are very large, you’re welcome to send them one or two at a time.
  • Submit as email attachments to cgcalendar@adopt-a-greyhound.org. Include your name, the dog’s name, the original adoption group or other source of the dog, your phone number, your email, and your full street address. If we should select one of your photos, we’ll send you a complimentary calendar.

If you prefer to submit photos the old way

Although we now prefer electronic submissions, you may still submit photos via snail mail.

  • Save all photos to one flash drive or one CD at full resolution. Write just your last name on the flash drive or CD using a Sharpie.  You can use a piece of tape to write on if needed.
  • Please name your photos “LastName_DogName.jpg.” For example, “Norton_Bravo.jpg” or “Norton_BravoRunning.jpg.”
  • We accept photos in JPG/JPEG, TIFF, PNG, or BMP formats.
  • Include a printed copy of the photo either on plain paper or photo paper. Do not crop photos, but feel free to draw suggested crop lines on your printouts.
  • On the front of the printed copy, please clearly print your full name, your dog’s name, and your adoption group or other source of the dog.
  • On the back of the printed copy, please clearly print the file name, your mailing address, your email address, and your phone number (in case we need to contact you).
  • We are not able to return media.

Tips to increase the chances we can use one of your photos

Select photos:

  • With a plain background
  • With wide open, natural looking eyes
  • With a seasonal or holiday theme (don’t forget Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Halloween, and Thanksgiving)
  • In clear focus
  • Showing your dog’s personality
  • If you can’t decide which photos to send, place them on a table and step away. Which ones catch your eye from a few feet away? Those are the ones you want to submit.
  • Consider submitting both vertical and horizontal (portrait and landscape) shots. We need more vertical images for the weekly desk diary, and we typically receive more horizontal submissions.

To purchase a calendar

Please make every attempt to purchase calendars directly from your adoption group. That's why we publish them! If your group is out, you may purchase them directly from us late in the year. Click here for a list of groups selling 2020 calendars.

Lists of hounds included in the 2020 calendars were published on the Celebrating Greyhounds Calendar Facebook page during the summer of 2019.
