January 2021 -- After a year long, worldwide search for an impartial and financially sound group, The Greyhound Project’s board unanimously accepted Greyhound Adoption League of Texas’s (GALT) kind offer to continue carrying out our mission under our name. GALT shares our commitment to remaining neutral on the subject of greyhound racing, and they are committed to supporting ALL adoption organizations to benefit the dogs. We ask that you join us in offering your full support of their efforts as they continue publishing Celebrating Greyhounds calendars, maintaining the worldwide directory of adoption organizations, and promoting April's National Adopt-A-Greyhound month.
Welcome to adopt-a-greyhound.org, the official website of The Greyhound Project
The mission of The Greyhound Project is to promote the welfare and adoption of greyhounds by providing support and information to adoption organizations, adopters, and the public.
We have assembled tons of information to help you learn more about them, so please take a moment to explore our site. Hopefully, you'll join the thousands of people who have discovered that their adopted friend is one of the nicest and most affectionate pets they've ever had.
We can also help you find out where you can adopt one.
The 2022 Celebrating Greyhounds Calendars are now sold out. You may be able to purchase one from your adoption group.
Photo submission guidelines for 2023 are here, and the deadline for photo submission is March 1, 2022. Note there will be no deadline extension this year.
The Greyhound Project and GALT produce calendars as a fundraiser for adoption groups, and about 10,000 are purchased annually. Each photo caption identifies the dog, the adopter, and the agency. We send a free calendar if one of your photos is featured.
Greyhounds make fantastic pets, but they are not for everyone. Learn the facts about these slender athletes as you explore our site.
